Anthony Davis has improved the injury report for the Heat game

The Dallas Mavericks will face the Miami Heat, and in a way, they won encouraging injury news. After being out for the past few weeks, Anthony Davis has been promoted to questionable on the injury report against the Heat, according to Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News. There’s a good chance he won’t play, but he appears to be taking the necessary steps to return at some point, perhaps even later in the week.

Before their game against the New Orleans Pelicans, head coach Jason Kidd noted that Davis is doing great, and there seems to be nothing but positive things coming from his rehab.

About a week ago, it looked like Davis would be back soon, but Patrick Dumont wanted more information about his injury before returning it to the floor, according to ESPN’s Tim McMahon.

“Sources: Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont requested medical data indicating Anthony Davis is not in danger of aggravating his left calf strain before giving the green light for the return of the 10-time All-Star. He will miss his seventh straight game tonight,” McMahon wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

That may have been the best approach, especially considering Davis’ injury history. Since being traded to the Mavericks, he has barely been able to play due to injuries, and there is no doubt that has set the team back. They’re missing one of the best players on the court who can make a difference on both sides of the ball, and they’re also missing Kyrie Irving, who likely won’t be back until later in the season.

The Mavericks have suffered because of those absences, and as a result they are near the bottom of the Western Conference. Other players had to step up, such as Cooper Flagg, PJ Washington, Max Christie, Brandon Williams and others.
