Anthony Davis ‘unlikely’ to trade before deadline

The Dallas Mavericks used to be the center of attention when it came to trade rumors, and everything was swirling around Anthony Davis. It was a the number of teams that were interested in Davisbut after he suffered an arm injury that interest waned. Still, there have been rumors that the Mavericks could pursue Davis.
But as of now, it seems he will stay with the team, says Athletic’s Christian Clarke.
“With NBA trade deadline In 10 days, Anthony Davis is unlikely to be on the move, major league sources said The Athletic“, Clark wrote.
With Davis having an injury history and him currently sidelined, it may be difficult for the Mavericks to get real value for him at this point. NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints also noted that he hasn’t seen Davis starts ahead of schedule.
“I don’t see Anthony Davis being traded right now,” Siegel told ClutchScoops. “We’ve written about this before on ClutchPoints that there simply isn’t a market for his injury. The teams that were chasing him (Hawks, Raptors) have major concerns about the injuries he racked up in Dallas. And so it seems likely that AD will stay in Dallas after the trade deadline.”
The Mavericks are currently 19-27 and the 12th seed in the Western Conference. They still have plenty of time to catch up to sneak into the Play-Ins, and we have yet to see what they might look like when fully healthy.
Davis could return in the coming weeks, though. Kyrie Irving is still sidelined as he recovers from an ACL injury he suffered last season. If they can get them on the court together, with Cooper Flagg playing the way he is, the Mavericks could make some noise late in the season.
