Anthony Davis will miss ‘a few games’ with a groin strain

The Dallas Mavericks fell to 12-20 on the year after a 126-116 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day. Mavs rookie Cooper Flagg played wellscoring 27 points with a historic stat on a positive note on Christmas Day. But the injury woes continued The Mavs saw Anthony Davis leave the game early with an injury.

After the defeat, the head coach Jason Kidd had no solid information about the big manbut one was provided on ESPN’s Shams Charania Friday.

“Mavericks star Anthony Davis suffered a minor groin strain and is likely to miss several games, sources tell ESPN. Davis, a major trade target, will be evaluated daily. The Mavs have taken a cautious approach to injuries, especially for Davis, and will continue to do so.”

Davis played just 10 minutes Thursday before exiting with a groin injury and has played in just 16 games this season.

The former Los Angeles Lakers star has endured plenty of injuries throughout his career, but this latest one is just another problem. He currently leads the Mavs with 20.5 PPG, although he has played slightly less than half the games of Flegg, who is averaging 19.4 PPG.

Right now, the Mavs are 11th in the Western Conference and just can’t figure things out. And, there have been some speculations should the mavs trade davis or notalthough it remains to be seen if it has legs.

Dallas faces the Sacramento Kings on the road Saturday and then the Portland Trail Blazers before heading into January, and, once again, Davis’ status will be one to watch.
