Anthony Davis will miss his 3rd straight game with a calf injury



The Dallas Mavericks they were dealt a big blow after Anthony Davis suffered a calf injury last week. The original prognosis for Davis was that he would miss two games with the said injury. However, Davis stayed out for a third back-to-back game as the Mavericks face the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, according to ClutchPoints Mavericks reporter Joey Mistretta.

Anthony Davis suffered his calf injury for the first time during the Mavericks’ game against the Indiana Pacers on October 29. left the game early and did not return. He was then held out of the team’s back-to-back games against the Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets, and was expected to be re-evaluated after the trip.

Davis was the focal point for the Mavericks in the much-hyped Luka Doncic trade last season. A healthy Davis, combined with a healthy overall roster, gives the Mavericks a potent team on paper. However, health was a major problem for the team. In addition to Davis, Derek Lively II is also out with a knee injury. He was also ruled out for the Mavericks’ game against the Pelicans and will miss his fifth straight game.

Davis has appeared in five games for the Mavericks this season with just over 29 minutes per game. He averaged 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds. 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks on 52 percent shooting from the field, 27.3 percent shooting from the three-point line and 74.2 percent shooting from the free throw line.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, one of the biggest knocks for Davis by fans and media throughout his career has been his health. However, Davis is just two seasons away from 76 games with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023-24. A 10-time All-Star, Davis underwent eye surgery in the offseason, prompting him to wear goggles for the remainder of his career.
