Anthony Edwards celebrates Bones Hyland for staying fit
One of the worst kept secrets in the NBA is Minnesota Timberwolves desire to add point guard beside Anthony Edwards. Mike Conley is getting old, and Rob Dillingham isn’t ready for the heavy minutes the Timberwolves took advantage of using Edwards at point guard. Although Edwards has made many strides in ball handling, playmaking and conditioning, he is a natural next to a more natural floor general.
With the Timberwolves’ lack of options at the position, they have now decided to surrender some minutes Bones Hylanda former first-round pick who has bounced around in recent seasons. On Monday night, Hyland gave the Timberwolves quality minutes, scoring 14 points in 16 minutes on 5-8 shooting from the field and ending up a plus-7 in a 108-105 loss to the Phoenix Suns.
Hyland was even on the floor for the Timberwolves in crunch time, signaling the coaching staff’s increased confidence in him. After the game, Edwards showered Hyland with praise, praising him for reinforcement when the team needs him.
“That’s my boy. I’ve been rooting for him for the last three years,” Edwards said, via Timberwolves insider Dane Moore. “If you’ve seen him play, you know he’s an incredible basketball player. It’s just a matter of time before he goes out there and shows why he belongs tonight.”
After being mostly out of the rotation for the last month, Bones Hyland was back in the lineup tonight, scoring 14 points to close out the game and getting high praise from Anthony Edwards afterward.

Are the Timberwolves moving with more of a sense of urgency?

The The Timberwolves lost another close game for the Suns, this time a Suns team without Devin Booker (who is out with a groin injury). While a 15-9 record isn’t cause for panic, the way they’re losing games could be cause for concern going forward.
At least Minnesota has time to think about its current lineup, and whether Hyland can continue to step up amid the point guard issues.
