Anthony Edwards doesn’t like to play fast, but he has no choice
When Anthony Edwards gets on the roll, the The Minnesota Timberwolves are nearly impossible to stop. That’s exactly what happened on Tuesday night in their 117-110 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Edwards scored 13 points in the final frame, including 10 straight in one stretch, to build a comfortable cushion for the Timberwolves en route to their 39th win of the season in 62 games.
The Timberwolves were noticeably playing at a faster pace, and Edwards had no choice but to adjust. While he admitted it’s not exactly his favorite style of play, he acknowledges how dangerous the team can be when they get out and run — a style of play that has become more often for the team since they acquired it Aio Dosunmu through trade.
“Yeah, we added Bones and Ayo. … I’m not a fan of playing fast. But when I’m with them, I don’t have a choice because I always want the ball, and they’re gone. The only way I can get the ball is to be next to them. I enjoy playing together with Bones and Ayo. They’re super fast. They’re super fast with the rockers,” Dare Edwards said after the Blue game.
Wolves are clearly playing faster since signing Aio Dosunma.
Asked Anthony Edwards about the impact Dosunmu has had on the pace at which Wolves have been playing of late.

The Timberwolves become even more dimensional with Aio Dosunmu

Overall, the Timberwolves’ numbers haven’t moved much since the addition of Dosunmu. They have played faster since the acquisition of Dosunmu, but compared to the rest of the NBA, this change is not that noticeable.
Minnesota is understood to still play a little slower, with Edwards and Julius Randle preferring to be more methodical in their approach. But with Dosunmu partnered with Bones Hyland off the benchthe Timberwolves’ second unit looks to outscore the opposition in the running.
This at least gives the team another dimension to lean on when the going gets tough.
