Anthony Edwards learns about Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards added another feather to his cap afterwards named MVP of the All-Star game the first time. He led Team Stars to a mini-tournament title at the Intuit Dome on Sunday.

Edwards showed off his all-around talent, posting 32 points, nine rebounds and three assists in three games. Team Stars dominated Team Stripes in the finals, 47-21, avenging their loss in the round robin.

The world team meanwhile lost its two tasks despite Great display from San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama. For Edwards, the world team would be more competitive if he was guarding the Los Angeles Lakers Luka Dončić and center for the Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokic played more.

“No shade to Luka and Jokic, but they’re two of the best players in the league and they’re not trying to play in the All-Star game,” the 24-year-old guard said.

Dončić and Jokić did not respond in a do-or-die Team World game against Team Stripes. In the first game against Team Stars, Dončić had two points and two assists, while Jokić remained scoreless and had two rebounds.

Doncic has missed the Lakers’ last four games with a hamstring injury, while Jokic recently returned from an extended layoff with a knee injury.

The lack of competitiveness has been a major problem in the All-Star game, as most players don’t take it seriously. The NBA has changed the format several times, including this year, to increase the level of competition, but nothing has worked.

It doesn’t help that Lakers forward LeBron James made a nasty comment about this year’s staging of the midseason classic.

If more players had stopped like Edwards, the All-Star Game would have been much more watchable.
