Anthony Edwards passes Kobe Bryant, approaches Michael Jordan in the epic club

Anthony Edwards has become one of the top 10 players in the NBA, quite a feat for someone who faced as much skepticism as the prospect coming out of Georgia. Many thought so he would be too distracted and that he is not head over heels in love with basketball, but he denied it almost immediately, blossoming into a real star for Minnesota Timberwolves.

On Tuesday evening, Edwards did superstar things for the Timberwolves; scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, including 10 straight at one point, to propel Minnesota to a 117-110 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. He finished with 41 points on 15-29 shooting on the night, including 7-13 from beyond the arc, as he left the Grizzlies defense helpless.

Doing so, Edwards now there are more 40-point games for a guard before he turns 25 by Kobe Bryant, as mentioned by Real App on X. The Timberwolves star now has the second-most such games, and he now trails only Michael Jordan in that department.

This just goes to show how explosive a shooter Edwards is and how close he is to Bryant or Jordan in today’s NBA. And the next thing he needs to do is lead the Timberwolves to the promised land the way Bryant and Jordan did for the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls, respectively.

The Timberwolves know their goal this season isn’t just to make it to the Western Conference Finals for the third year in a row. They want to get over the hump, and they have a good chance if Edwards continues this level of play.

Currently, the Timberwolves are fourth in the Western Conference standings, although they are on the verge of third place. That might be in their favor considering how they took care of business against the Lakers in last year’s playoffs (LA is currently sixth).
