Anthony Edwards’ potential injury return against the Knicks brings out the puzzling shot of Chris Finch
The The Minnesota Timberwolves were trying to navigate the last few games without a superstar Anthony Edwards in the composition due to a tendon injury. Minnesota currently holds a 4-3 record after hosting Monday night victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
Next up for the Timberwolves is a road game against the New York Knicks, and most recently head coach Chris Finch became 100% real on Edwards’ recovery process ahead of that match.
“Anthony Edwards practiced with the Timberwolves today. Chris Finch said he’s making ‘good progress’ from his hamstring injury. Asked if he could play tomorrow against the Knicks, Finch said ‘I couldn’t say at this stage. I have no idea.’ It wasn’t a no,” reported The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski on X, formerly Twitter.
Krawczynski also noted that “I’m sure Anthony Edwards and the Wolves medical and athletic staff will need time to see how his body responds to these workouts. But, barring a setback, his return appears imminent.”
The Timberwolves would certainly love to have their best player back on the court, which will be another return for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to Madison Square Garden to face their former team.
Interesting place for the Timberwolves

Overall, most pundits expect the Minnesota Timberwolves to once again be in the upper echelon of teams in the Western Conference after two consecutive trips to the conference finals in 2024 and 2025.
However, it remains to be seen how the Timberwolves will get over that hump in 2025-26, as both conference finals runs have been largely non-competitive. While the Timberwolves wrapped up some key pieces in new deals this offseason, they also watched Nickil Alexander-Walker walk out the door in free agency, and didn’t add much new talent to the roster.
The Timberwolves have also seen an alarming regression from Rudy Gobert so far to open this season.
Either way, the Knicks and Timberwolves will tip-off on Wednesday at 7:30 PM ET.
