Anthony Edwards reveals the truth about the Nuggets’ double-team strategy
Anthony Edwards has blossomed to the point of drawing the bulk of any opposing team’s attention every time Minnesota Timberwolves step onto the hardwood. In fact, on Sunday night, Edwards respected the Denver Nuggets so much that there was a point in the game he drew double teams the second he crossed half the field.
in the end, Edwards and the Timberwolves persevered despite the brazen defensive strategy of the Nuggets, as they won 117-108 on the road. The Timberwolves star didn’t have the best of nights; he finished with just 21 points on 9-19 shooting from the field, which is pretty pedestrian by his standards, but the sheer defensive attention he drew opened up the floor so much for his teammates.
That speaks volumes for Edwards’ progression as a basketball player he doesn’t care now whether or not the opponent wants to take the ball out of his hands — as long as his team is playing winning basketball.
“Maybe it was last year or the year before last that I was like, ‘Man, they’re ganging up on me. I don’t like it.’ At this point, it’s a sign of respect. Because they just doubled me. They hit me from half court. I’m not mad at all because at the end of the day my four is better than the three of them. We play four-on-three,” Edwards said, via Dane Moore of Blue Wire .
Denver was sending another defender on Anthony Edwards when he crossed the field in today’s game.
He asked Ant, who used to be very frustrated with that look, about playing through that type of aggressive coverage.

Anthony Edwards continues his rise to superstardom for the Timberwolves

Five other scorers topped double figures for the Timberwolves, and it was a balanced effort that made this incredible win over another competitive peer in the Nuggets possible. Edwards became so dangerous as a shooter that the Nuggets were willing to live with anyone beating them — which Minnesota did.
The Timberwolves have made a living by being in the running, but they’ve had their fair share of problems against inferior teams. They will be put to the test on Tuesday when they take on the struggling Memphis Grizzlies.
