Anticipated election no. 1 Darrin Peterson has ‘no problem’ after returning for Game 1 from hamstring injury
kansas star Darrin Peterson could be a top target for several NBA teams during the draft next June. However, the projected No. 1 pick hit a gear early this season. After appearing in Kansas’ first two games, Peterson missed seven games with a hamstring strain.
However, the freshman phenom returned from a month-long absence during Sunday’s 80-60 win over Missouri and came through unscathed. Peterson played 23 minutes in the big win, he had 17 points, three rebounds and an assist while shooting 6-of-14 from the field and 3-of-9 from three.
Kansas head coach Bill Self told 247 Sport that Peterson practiced without problems after the win and is on track to play Saturday against NC State.

Peterson’s play will be among the top stories around college basketball and the NBA for the next few months. The 18-year-old averaged 20.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists on 53.8 percent shooting from the field and 42.9 percent from three in three appearances.
While Peterson is currently consensus #1 in mock draftsBIU’s AJ Dibansta and Duke’s Cameron Boozer aren’t far behind.
“Peterson’s dynamic three-point scoring, impressive physical tools, defensive tenacity and competitive intangibles make him one of the most complete and impressive freshman guards in recent memory,” ESPN’s Jeremy Wu wrote in his latest mock draft. “There is room for debate at the No. 1 spot as the season unfolds, but Peterson would likely be the pick if the draft were held today. However, the possibility of an extended absence would leave the door open for Dibanca and Boozer to compete for the field.”
Dibansta turned into an electrifying performance on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden. The BIU star had 28 points, nine rebounds and six assists to rally his team from a 22-point second-half deficit in a win over Clemson.
Meanwhile, Boozer averaged 23.0 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists on 56/37/77 shooting in 10 appearances with Duke.
