Are Darius Garland, Anthony Edwards playing tonight? Cavs vs. Wolves injuries

The The Cleveland Cavaliers are on the road Thursday to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in the series home and home. Darius Garland was listed as disputed on the injury report with a contusion of the right hand, doc Anthony Edwards is listed as questionable for sustaining a right leg injury.

Cavs veteran Larry Nance Jr. has a chance to play for the first time since Nov. 28, when he suffered a strained right calf, and Terrence Shannon Jr. remains on the sidelines due to a sprained left foot.

When it comes to the question of whether Darius Garland and Anthony Edwards game tonight in the Cavs vs. Timberwolves matchup, the answer is up in the air. Considering both have a chance to meet again Saturday in Cleveland, it wouldn’t be surprising to see one or both sit out the game.

That may be especially true of Garland, who did not appear on the Cavs’ injury report until 1:00 PM ET. It’s not even for the ailments he’s been battling all season; it’s a bruise on his right arm. It wasn’t even on the radar like the toe injury he’s been dealing with this season, or even the back pain he’s pushed to take over in the fourth quarter in Cleveland’s comeback win over the Indiana Pacers.

Bringing Larry Nance Jr. back for the first time in over a month could give Cavs head coach Kenny Atkinson an extra body in the frontcourt with a different skill set than he’s had at his disposal; especially when Dean Wade re-injured his left knee. The Nance is a gaming Swiss Army knife with solid instincts. Although he hadn’t been good for wine and gold so far, that rest and recovery might have done wonders for him.

Edwards hasn’t missed a game since going on a three-game losing streak from Dec. 12-17. The Timberwolves will be without Terence Shannon Jr. for the seventh straight game after he was sidelined by a left leg abductor hallucis strain.
