James Harden, Donovan Mitchell injury status for Cavs vs. Pistons

When it comes to the question of whether James Harden and Donovan Mitchell game tonight in the Cavs vs. Pistons matchup, the answer might be the former, not the latter.

Harden’s status remains questionable after suffering a broken right thumb in the team’s win over the New York Knicks on Tuesday. He missed Cleveland’s last game against the Milwaukee Bucks, but had a questionable spot before that contest as well. While indications are that Harden will try to play through the pain and work through it, it appears that he and the team are still taking things day by day.

It will be back-to-back games missed for Mitchell, who is dealing with a right groin strain. The Cavs are coming off a five-game, seven-night stretch in Detroit, so it’s not surprising to see more names appear on the injury list.

Dennis Schroder finished the team’s final game in Milwaukee despite a sprained right ankle. In that game, Dean Wade also suffered the same injury, and Keon Ellis broke his left index finger. Although he steps in his progress, Max Struss is still out.

The Pistons will be without Isaiah Stewart as he is still serving a suspension for his altercation with the Charlotte Hornets.
