Arizona opens practice window for 2 key players

Arizona The Cardinals have their work cut out for them heading into Week 9. Arizona is 2-5 coming off a bye week and sits at the bottom competitive NFC West division. They will need to start putting some wins together if they want to save their season. Fortunately, they could get two defensemen back soon.

The Cardinals have opened 21-day exercises for BJ Ojulari and Garrett Williams, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Both Ojulari and Williams were on injured reserve with knee injuries. They are now able to get back on the practice field before eventually returning to Arizona.

The Cardinals now have three weeks to decide whether to activate any player. They are not forced to wait the full three weeks, although NFL teams often use that time well to get players back in shape.

Ojulari should provide solid depth on the off-ball line for the Cardinals. He could also rotate as a pass rusher behind Josh Sweet and Darius Robinson.

Meanwhile, the return of Williams could be a much bigger deal for Arizona’s defense. He should end up starting ahead of Kei’Trell Clark in the Arizona slot, assuming no downtime during practice.

Williams has been out since Week 2so bringing it back could greatly increase the coverage unit.

The Cardinals could also get their most important player back in Week 9.

Arizona expects KB Kyler Murray to return from injury this weekend, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The team they expected Murray to return after their Week 8 bye. Everything says that the plan is going according to plan.

In fact, Murray entered the business throwing to get past the catchers on Tuesday, Cardinals reporter Darren Urban.

Arizona has gotten surprisingly good production from backup Jacoby Brissett in the last two games. Unfortunately, neither performance led to victory.

The Cardinals are hoping that getting Murray back in the lineup, and healthy, should get their offense back on track.

Fortunately, Kyler will face one of the NFL’s worst defenses in Week 9.

Cardinals at Cowboys kick off Monday at 8:15 PM ET.
