Arthur Rinderknecht plays Francis Tiafoe in the 2025 competition Australian Open. Our Australian Open odds series has our Rinderkneh-Tiafoe prediction, odds and picks. Learn how to watch Rinderknech-Tiafoe.

The first big one of the year starts this weekend, and Frances Tiafoe will be under a lot of scrutiny from the rest of the tennis community. Tiafoe is a fascinating player to consider when evaluating his career and overall progress. In terms of blocks of 12-month results and overall world ranking, Tiafoe does not rate as one of the best players on tour. Men’s tennis no longer has the big three of Nadal, Federer and Djokovic. Taylor Fritz is the 4th seed at this Australian Open. No offense to Fritz, but that’s a big drop from the ATP Golden Era where Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, Tomas Berdych and David Ferrer were in the mix at the majors. Men’s tennis is now weaker and thinner and much more fluid than it was 10 years ago. A really good player should be in the top 10, if not the top six or seven. Tiafoe is ranked number 17. He is not relentlessly consistent. From that point of view, his career was irresistible.

However, when viewed through the lens of major tournament performances, Tiafoe’s career is much better than most of his peers. He reached multiple major semi-finals. He advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 US Open and led the aforementioned Taylor Fritz two sets to one before falling in five sets. The rest of the men’s pros are still waiting for their first major semi-final. Tiafoe enjoys the big stage and likes to play high-profile matches. He had Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon last year before the Spaniard managed to win. Tiafoe played really good tennis that day; he just couldn’t get the job done. However, Tiafoe made a late summer surge on hard court and showed everyone how good he can be. There’s a lot to like about Tiafoe’s career, but the next step is to be a consistent player every week. The Australian Open will give us our first look at Tiafoe in 2025. Can he evolve and reach a higher plateau?

Why Arthur Rinderknecht will win

We’ve said it loud and clear: Frances Tiafoe is not relentlessly consistent. He can be really good when he’s on, but he can look very ordinary for large parts of the tennis season. Tiafoe’s forehand isn’t nearly as good as many other forehands you’ll see on tour. He has weaknesses that a competent tour player can pick apart, which is Rinderkneh. This game could very well be close; no one would be surprised at all.

Why Frances Tiafoe Will Win

Francis Tiafoe, after reaching the semi-finals of the US Open last September in New York, should be confident of his ability on hard courts at a major tournament. If he wins the first set, he is likely to be off to the races against Rindekneh, who has nowhere near Tiafoe’s top-level achievements at major tournaments.

Final Rinderknech-Tiafoe Prediction & Pick

We’re leaning towards Rinderknech, but we think you should pass on this matchup.

Final Rinderknech-Tiafoe Prediction & Pick: Rinderknech +5.5
