During the training camp, RJ Barrett promised to be able to influence the game despite the arrival of Brandon Ingramcome trade cards inside the Raptors. After seven games, the facts prove him right: the former Knick is off to one of the best starts to a season of his career.

Along with Brandon Ingram and Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett has settled into the third offensive option role, and it’s working. While defenses focus on the two All-Stars, the Canadian makes himself available: catch and shoot, cut or one-on-one if he has a favorable matchup. Above all, it forces less than before.

“I don’t think at the beginning of my career I would have liked to play in this configuration, I wasn’t mature enough” points out RJ Barrett. “Now I’m older, I’ve had other experiences and the most important thing is that the team wins. It’s important how to help the team and how to adapt to the team’s way of playing. It’s not necessarily what you do or what you want to do, but what the team needs.”
Since the beginning of the season, formerly of New York he’s only taking 13.5 shots a night, his lowest total since his freshman year, and again, he’s never been that proficient.
