Baker Mayfield drops a nuke on what went wrong against the Patriots

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost to the New England Patriots 28-23 on Sunday, falling to 6-3 on the season. Tampa came out of survival without many reinforcements from their long injury list. That didn’t help stop it TreyVeon Henderson, as the rookie running back finally broke out of his shell with two touchdowns. Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield he didn’t pull any punches when he criticizes his own the team after the game.

“Baker Mayfield says Bucs offense failed to do all the little things right in critical moments. ‘Little things lose games,'” Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com reported.

“When things come up during the week, whether it’s mistakes or things we talk about, and then they come up on Sunday, you’ve got to have some pride in yourself. You’ve got to have that fear of failure, messing up your teammates when we talk about something, you’ve got to have that accountability and responsibility for the guys around you. Fix it,” ESPN’s Jenna Mayfield said.

Mayfield continued, saying it starts with him cleaning up some unfinished business. The Buccaneers quarterback went 28-for-43 on Sunday with 273 passing yards and three touchdowns. The running game, still missing Bucky Irving, gained 113 yards but no touchdowns. Still, it wasn’t enough to take down the Patriots.

The Buccaneers still lead the NFC South, with help The New Orleans Saints beat the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. With a 1.5-game lead, they have some wiggle room, but they need to make sure they beat the Panthers in Weeks 15 and 17.

The Buccaneers’ schedule now gets tough as they face the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams in back-to-back weeks. Despite their struggles on Sunday, Tampa will remain in the NFC playoffs because of a poor division. Can they turn it around next week?
