Bam Adebayo calls out Miami for ‘bad basketball’ against Magic in NBA Cup

The Miami Heat have now dropped four straight games after lost to Orlando Magic, 117-108in the quarter finals it is do or die NBA Cup on Tuesday at the Kia Center.

The Heat got off to a hot start, outscoring their in-state rivals, 30-17, in the first quarter. But they couldn’t keep it going, as the Magic led for most of the ensuing frames.

Miami shot just 45% from the field while allowing Orlando to shoot 51%. Heath made just eight of 33 three-point attempts. Although they forced the Magic into 17 turnovers, they failed to capitalize, scoring just eight points off those turnovers.

Bam Adebayo he did not hide his disappointment after the game, especially in defense.

“We had an opportunity to do something we’ve never done before, and we let it slip away. Obviously, it was frustrating. Nobody wants to be on a losing streak like that. I feel like we’re a better team than that,” Adebayo said in a video posted on X.

“We made their job easier. On the one hand, we play bad basketball. We didn’t move the defense.”

Adebayo did his part with 19 points, eight rebounds, one steal and two blocks.

Miami, however, had no answer for Desmond Bain, who finished with a season-high 37 points on 14-of-24 shooting, including 6-of-9 from long range.

While the heats are now out of the fray for the NBA Cup, Adebayo claimed he’ll “figure it out” as the season progresses.

“That’s my job as the anchor of the defense to figure that out. On the other hand, we’re not scoring 140 anymore. We’re averaging 108 right now in the last four games or so,” noted the five-time All-Defensive team member.
