Bam Adebayo, Norman Powell got real about Heat’s prospects after Timberwolves loss
MIAMI – After The Miami Heat upset the Detroit Pistons on Thursdaythe team was riding a four-game winning streak until they came back down to Earth after losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 125-115, on Saturday night. In a frustrating night that included Heat star and Sixth Man of the Year candidate Jaime Jaquez Jr. leaving the game with an ankle injury, the game slipped through the team’s fingers as Bam Adebayo and Norman Powell become realistic about their appearance.
While it wasn’t the prettiest offensive game to begin with, Miami held Minnesota close in the first half, trailing 56-50 at halftime, heading into the third quarter, where the team gained a lot of momentum during its past four-game winning streak. But the Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards’ 33 points, stifled the Heat in the fourth quarter, leading the team to now wonder what it will take to turn around consistent outings.
For the team captain in Adebayo, he would say that Miami is not where they want to be, although they showed “flashes”.
“I think we’re showing flashes, so you can’t really dictate how close we are or not. I think we’re just more consistent,” Adebayo said after scoring 12 points and leading the team with nine rebounds. Understand that every game will not be the same. Understand, obviously, different personnel, and we just have to think more about the game.

There were plenty of chances for the team to come out of the gate hot in the first half, but shooting under 30 percent from deep and just over 40 percent from the field was not good. For. Adebayo, told ClutchPoints, that in addition to Minnesota’s defense and not getting to their spots, they “missed some open ones.”
“I thought we made enough open shots, it just didn’t go in, and I feel like we missed a couple. Free lays, where, you know, that kind of momentum can change the outcome of the game,” Adebayo said.
He asked Bam Adebayo about the lackluster offensive output in the first half and whether it was more Minnesota’s defense or not finding their spots.

Norman Powell gets real about the Heat’s current prospects

Doc Adebayo wants to return to consistency for the Heatone of the players who led miami in scoring was norman powell, who scored a team-high 21 points on saturday. Since it helps the team get where their expectations are, honesty could be the first step, keeping it real when asked if Miami is at the level they want to be.
“We’re definitely not there yet. Definitely not,” Powell said. “I think we’ve had our problems. I think we’ve won (four) games, like you can see where we want to be, the potential of the team. But good, great teams, that’s their identity every night, you know. And that’s what we’re building every night, you know the team you’re going to face and what you have to do to face that team.”
“And we’re a young team, we continue to realize that, like I said, when we get into later in the season, you know, after the All-Star break, we’ve got to have that identity locked in for the playoffs and positioning, especially in the East, everything is so close. So we’ve got to start putting these, these wins together,” Powell continued.

Powell would leave the game with sore legs and was considered questionable to return, but returned to try and turn the contest around, but it was all for naught.
Warmth Erik Spoelstra sees “progress” despite disappointing loss
The A warm look to get back to basics in what made them successful in the first place this season, which stands out with its fast and free attack. However, it’s hard to expect that for 82 straight games, which will lead to some outings where Miami has to go back to its original forte of playing out of the mud with its defense, especially against top teams.
It was an aspect that head coach Erik Spoelstra saw “progress” on Saturday despite the loss.
“When it gets to double digits, then we just lost focus, and that can happen against a good team; we’re working on that. We’re getting better with it. I see a lot of improvement in that,” Spoelstra said. “But there’s that pocket that just went from 10 to 19 or 20 or whatever it was, quick, and it was three or four mistakes that just came together on both ends of the floor, either a turnover, not executing the way we needed to, and then some defensive breakdowns on the other end. So it’s a shame to play this in possession.”

Either way, the Heat are now 19-16 with little time to think, as the second game of a back-to-back is Sunday night against the New Orleans Pelicans before embarking on a four-game Midwest road trip. Interestingly, that list begins on Tuesday in the rematch in Minnesota.
