Basketball player Ethan Dietz, 20, died after suffering a head injury in a college game
“He was athletically and academically talented and understood the importance of hard work. If you ever saw him smile, you knew it was from the heart. He was a person of character as well as a great teammate.”
Dietz was from Conway, Arkansas and a sophomore at Connors State. He started the first eight games of the season for the Cowboys, averaging 11 points and 9.4 rebounds.
The school canceled several men’s and women’s basketball games and scheduled a campus vigil to honor Dietz’s life on Monday.
“It’s devastating to have such a bright light taken from us,” added CSC President Dr. Ron Raming. “Ethan showed what it means to be a cowboy, to value hard work and to be part of a team.”
