Behren Morton admitted to health after removing the BIU

Behren Morton provided an update on his health after the no. 5 Texas Tech The Red Raiders’ 34-7 victory over the no. 11 BIU Cougars in the Big 12 championship game Saturday night.

Entering the matchup, Texas Tech shined as one of the best teams in the country. They made a strong case for a berth in the College Football Playoff, something they easily secured with a win over BIU.

Morton reflected on the victory after the game, according to reporter Max Olson. He completed 20 of 33 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns, having a strong performance despite a fibula injury.

“Texas Tech KB Behren Morton told me after the game that he currently feels ‘about 70%’ as he continues to play through a fractured fibula. He grinned when asked if a first-round bye in the CFP and 3 weeks off would help his recovery,” Olson wrote.

“Yeah, big deal,” Morton replied.

The great news for No. 5 Texas Tech is Behren Morton, who will get time to recover from his injury and be at his best for the upcoming CFP Tournament. His performance against BIU showed he’s willing to fight through the pain.

The Red Raiders took a while to get going. BIU opened the game with a touchdown, taking a 7-0 lead after the first quarter. After that, it was all Texas Tech, which scored 34 unanswered points over the final three periods.

Jay Kobe Williams and Cameron Dickey starred in the rushing attack. Williams led the way with 15 catches for 80 yards, while Dickey had 18 rushes for 72 yards and a touchdown. Reggie Virgil led the receiving unit with eight catches for 86 yards. Meanwhile, Coy Eakin caught three passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

The No. 5 Red Raiders will be looking forward to their official CFP berth. They await their trip to the postseason on December 7.
