Ben Simmons claims he’d come back ‘for free’



There was a time when Ben Simmons was considered one of the next NBA superstars when he was selected No. 1 overall in the 2016 NBA Draft. Philadelphia 76ers. But after multiple injury problems, Simmons’ NBA career didn’t quite go as expected. The former top pick is currently out of the NBA, though according to a recent social media post, Simmons is he seemed to suggest that it is his decision why it remains unsigned.

Not only that, but Ben Simmons has indicated that he would be open to returning to the 76ers. During the off-season, Simmons has reportedly attracted free agent interest from multiple teamsbut he remained unsigned as training camp and the regular season eventually began.

“It’s not about the dollars, I’d hang in there for free,” Simmons replied to a fan who asked if he would ever return to the 76ers. “It’s deeper than what you’re being led to believe, which is why I keep pushing it. The focus is on getting the body 100% before I put my health on the line again… like I have been for the last few years.”

Simmons finished last season with the LA Clippers after agreeing to a contract buyout with the Brooklyn Nets. During his time with Clippers, Simmons talked about injury struggles he is facing and how it has, unfortunately, shaped the public’s perception of him.

He’s actually been a pretty solid player in the rotation for the Clippers, and his absence this season has been noticeable throughout the team’s struggles. Simmons appeared in a total of 18 games for the Clippers, logging just over 16 minutes per game. He averaged 2.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the 3-point line.
