Bill Belichick adds another KB to North Carolina’s initial football recruiting class

New North Carolina football coach Bill Belichick already had a quarterback in its 2025 recruiting class, but added another on Tuesday. KB Au’Tori Newkirk with three stars is the latest player to commit in the Tar Heels, and he gives this class a slight boost in the rankings.
“BRY’S QB 2025 Au’Tori Newkirk has committed to North Carolina,” On3 Recruits wrote in a post. “Bill Belichick adds another quarterback to the class.”
Au’Tori Newkirk is a three-star recruit according to 247 Sports. He is not ranked nationally by 247, but he is the No. 52 KB in the 2025 recruiting class and the No. 29 player in the state of Virginia. Newkirk currently attends Maury High School in Norfolk, Virginia.
“2023: Abe Goldblatt All-Tidewater Football Player of the Year,” Newkirks scouting report read. “Virginia Class 5 Offensive Player of the Year, Class 5 Region Offensive Player of the Year and Eastern District Offensive Player of the Year.” As a freshman, he led Mori to a 15-0 record and a state championship. Completed 175 of 256 passes (68.3%) for 3,670 yards with 44 TDs and 5 INTs. He also ran for 760 yards and 13 TDs.”
The best recruit in this 2025 North Carolina Football Recruiting the class is also KB. His name is Bryce Baker and he is ranked way higher than Au’Tori Newkirk.
Brice Baker is a four-star recruit according to 247. He is the No. 80 player in the Class of 2025, the No. 8 KB player and the No. 3 player in the state of North Carolina. He currently attends East Forsyth High School in Kernersville, NC.

“A mobile signal caller with a muscular build that will open up his wide receivers,” Baker’s scouting report said. “He has a compact release and can create torque with his upper half. He can be a little choppy at times as a passer, but he has some impressive long balls on the junior spray chart. He really excels at attacking the back corner of the end zone when he’s in the red zone. Jerking his lower body allows him to escape pressure and extend the play.”
Baker has the ability to play with his arm and his feet, and that should translate well to the next level.
“Effective on designed runs and has the burst to beat defenders, although he’s not the type of quarterback who just wants to take off and run,” the scouting report continued. “Should be viewed as a potential perennial starter at the Power Four level.” He needs to continue to improve his footwork and decision making, but he has the tools to develop over the next few years. He’ll probably find the most success in a modern spread offense that wants to move him.”
Bill Belichick signed two intriguing QBs for this 2025 recruiting class, and North Carolina football fans should be excited to see these guys play.
