Billy Donovan gives Josh Giddy injury update amid second hamstring injury
Josh Giddei‘s return for Chicago Bulls will have to wait until after the All-Star break. Out since Jan. 28 with a hamstring strain, Giddei is not expected to play Wednesday vs Boston Celticsaccording to Billy Donovan.
“I don’t expect Josh or Tre (Jones) to play Wednesday against Boston, but they’re both improving,” Donovan said before Monday’s 123-115 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. “They’re playing three-on-three, and they’re running down the field. I think the doctors just want to be in a place where there’s at least enough build-up and all that tension kind of subsides.”
Giddy missed three weeks in January due to hamstring strain. He re-aggravated the injury during a Jan. 28 loss to the Indiana Pacers.

The Bulls have integrated several new guards after the trade deadline, and Giddei and Jones were ruled out. Anfernee Simmons, Jaden Ivey and Collin Sexton all saw starring roles in Chicago’s backcourt in the last two games, a 136-120 loss to the Denver Nuggets and Monday’s loss to the Nets.
Giddy and Jones should be ready to return after the All-Star break. leaving Donovan to find minutes for five guards at a rotation level.
