Currently, the Bulls are 9-12 on the year and in the midst of a five-game losing streak. In addition, many of their top players were on and off the injured list. Meanwhile, Giannis is averaging 28.9 points, 10.1 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game. Also, the Bucks are 10-13 and in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, while Chicago is 11th.
As of now, Giannis has a contract with the Bucks until the 2026-2027 season. Besides, he has a big player option waiting for him in 2027. However, with the Bucks’ struggles in recent years, they may look elsewhere.
However, Giannis has not publicly demanded a trade.
The backstory behind the Bulls’ desire to land Giannis
Reports that the Bulls were looking at Giannis derive from broadcaster Lou Canellis of FOX Chicago. Kanellis reportedly has some business ties to Giannis, who has said on the radio that he is interested in Chicago as a trade destination.
The Bulls declined the offer to avoid breaking up their young core. The rebuilding aspect was key for Chicago at this point. With the young talent they have, the Bulls lack a superstar player they can count on in many ways.
At this point, much like Donovan, no one knows what’s what.
