Billy Donovan updates Anferna Simmons after wrist injury

The Chicago Bulls looking to snap an eight-game losing streak against the New York Knicks on Sunday. However, they will be without defender Anferni Simones due to a wrist injury on Saturday against the Detroit Pistons.
Before the game, the head coach Billy Donovan provided context on what lies ahead for Simmons this week, according to Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic. Donovan said Simmons will undergo imaging on Monday. In addition, he will meet with a team of professionals to get a full assessment of the severity of his injury.
“I just want to know what’s going on,” Donovan said. “Maybe it’s just a sprain, that’s it, maybe more. He’s going to a hand specialist.”
Simmons came to the Bulls as part of trade who sent Nikola Vucevic to the Boston Celtics. He is currently averaging 15.2 points per game over six games with Chicago. Previously, Simmons averaged 14.2 points per game in 49 games with the Celtics.
Meanwhile, Chicago is 24-33 on the season and hasn’t won a game in February. They lost to the Pistons 126-110 on Saturday. Simmons played a total of 13 minutes and scored four points before being ejected in the third quarter.
Simmons’ best game with the Bulls came on February 9 against the Brooklyn Nets. He scored 23 points, shot 10-for-17 from the field and dished out seven assists.
On Tuesday, the Bulls will stay at home as they play the Charlotte Hornets. They will then close out February with a home game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday.
