Blue Jays, Dodgers make World Series history in Game 3 marathon
Both Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays must be completely exhausted after taking 18 innings to decide the winner of Game 3 World Series. But both teams would rather be happy while they’re exhausted than play the blame game, and for the Dodgers, at least they’ll be sleeping soundly afterwards Freddie Freeman hit another home run in the World Series — Brandon Little’s solo shot to the hanging clips in the bottom of the 18th.
But before Freeman hit the plate and finally sent the fans into Dodger Stadium eagerly anticipating a happy home win, there were plenty of frustrating moments for both teams. They threatened to score in extra innings, but couldn’t find a way to get them safely across the board.
In fact, the two teams combined to strand 37 runners on base, which is and the new one World Series record for most runners left on base, as noted by Sportsnet on X (formerly Twitter).
As early as the 10th inning, the Blue Jays were already threatening to blow the lead. But instead, Davis Schneider was thrown out at the plate in a questionable send-off by third base coach Carlos Febles.
In the bottom of the 11th, Freeman already had a golden opportunity to beat the Dodgers, with Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts on base. Freeman proceeded to fly out to left field. In the 13th, Freeman entered with the bases loaded and sent a deep fly ball to the warning track, only to be caught by Daulton Warshaw.
The Blue Jays knocked on the door in the 18th, with Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Warshaw advancing to third and second base, respectively, on Will Klein’s wild pitch. Klein stranded those runners by striking out Tyler Heinemann.
If nothing else, both bullpens deserve a lot of credit for keeping the score even for so long.
Dodgers win war of attrition against Blue Jays

If selected, Blue Jays manager John Schneider certainly wouldn’t leave with Brandon Little to end the game. Alas, Little was the only remaining arm for Toronto, so they had no choice but to call him up, even though he had already had some moments in moments earlier in the postseason.
Little barely made it to the 17th before allowing Freeman to end the game with one swing. Meanwhile, Klein pitched four innings to beat the Dodgers.
