Boston is reuniting with a veteran who was with the Clippers

Boston The Celtics want to stay near the top atop the Eastern Conference standings through the second half of the season, which means they’ll need all hands on deck. They are recently added a familiar face for depth, as Dalano Bunton will be back with the team, according to Hoopshape’s Michael Scotto.

“The Boston Celtics plan to sign Dalano Banton to a 10-day contract, sources said Hoopship. Banton just completed a 10-day contract with the Clippers. The 26-year-old guard averaged 6.7 points in 14.5 minutes over five seasons with the Raptors, Celtics, Blazers and Clippers,” Scotto wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Banton played for the Celtics during the 2023-24 season, appearing in just 24 games in which he averaged 2.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per seven minutes.

With Banton already familiar with the Celtics system, it shouldn’t be difficult for him to adjust, and the hope is to be signed by the end of the season. What has helped the Celtics this season is their depth, and that is why they have played so well.

Not many expected the Celtics to be this good, especially with most of the moves they made in the offseason, plus Jayson Tatum not playing with an Achilles injury. Regardless, Jaylen Brown has improved significantly and it’s almost as if they haven’t missed a beat.

Now everyone is waiting to see if Tatum returns sometime during the seasonand before the All-Star break, he worked out with the G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics. After that practice, he noted that it didn’t mean he was coming back, but just a step in the right direction for his rehabilitation.

“I’m still trying to figure it out. I’m still going through the rehab progression,” Tatum said. “I’m not saying I’m coming back or not. It’s all about being healthy and going through the plan.”
