Boston’s praise of the Amazon Prime team will not excite the Pistons

The Boston Celtics they started the season with a lot of questions about their ability to compete with the best teams. Jayson Tatum’s injury and the resulting fire sale number of players meant that the Celtics were not seen by many as even a playoff contender.

However, they are currently 2nd in the Eastern Conference at 36-19, and they only improved with the addition of Nikola Vucevic. Their command even led to some high praise from an unlikely source, with Blake Griffin naming Boston when asked about the team with the least weakness in the East.

“That might be the team with the fewest questions,” Griffin said on Amazon Prime, while the rest of the team also named the Celtics in the segment, according to the post on X from insider Taylor Snow.

“In my opinion, the Boston Celtics have the best habits of any team in the NBA,” Udonis Haslem said, before Rudy Gay pointed out how Vucevic single-handedly solved their “issues.”

And that praise is well-deserved. Although he has only played three games so far, the Montenegrin big man averaged 15.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists, and the Celtics immediately relied on his interior scoring and spacing.

Of course, much of the credit also goes to Joe Mazzula. Despite major changes in personnel, the Celtics have employed the same high-speed style of play that continues to reap results.

With Jaylen Brown (29.3 ppg) leading the offense and the possibility of Tatum still playing a role at the business end of the season, the Celtics look capable of re-emerging as title contenders. Both Derrick White and Peyton Pritchard are averaging 17.2 points per game, and the addition of Vucevic gives this team another offensive outlet and a solution in games where they’ve struggled to score from inside instead of relying too much on long range shooting.

There’s no doubt that this new-look Celtics team is still capable of producing some huge results.
