Brad Stevens reminds Jayson Tatum Celtics are ‘better with him’
Will he play again, won’t he play again? This is the big question of the second part of the season Celtics and that obviously concerns Jayson Tatum, injured Achilles tendon from last May and co planned to play again in 2025/26 from the offseason, but who wants to less optimistic since the end of January.
Especially since she doesn’t want to disrupt the good alchemy she’s found Boston in his absence. But Brad Stevensits president, excludes any problem at this level.
« Obviously, every team is better with Jayson Tatum » he stated. « If he needs to hear it, I’ll tell him every day because every team, and that goes for all 30, would really be a lot better with him. »
Not surprisingly, Jayson Tatum’s other main concern is his possible risk of relapse, which he clearly wants to avoid at all costs.
« It’s best for him to come back when he’s at 110%, when he’s got the green light from all the people counting on this decision, when he’s calm and ready to go. That’s all. That’s the goal and that’s what we’re going to pursue » then he wanted to reassure Brad Stevens.
They hoped, but not forced
Boston’s manager also understands his All-Star winger’s doubts: ” These are the things that come to everyone’s mind » he said. ” But in all our discussions, he is also confident that he can improve the team. »
For now, Jayson Tatum is happy increase in strength and watch the Celtics have an admirable season in his absence.
« He has made many steps, he is doing more and will continue to do so ” said Brad Stevens. ” There is no pressure from us, but none of us will say to him, ‘What if you take another week?’ So when he’s ready, he’ll be ready. »
Jayson Tatum will have the last word and the Celtics aren’t going to rush anything, but they still made sure to beef up at the trade deadline, with the arrival of Nikola Vucevic (in addition to achieving new savings). It remains only to wait for the return of their “franchise player” in order to achieve the big goal in the playoffs.
