Brandon Miller details the improvement amid the Hornets’ struggles

The Charlotte Hornets are struggling mightily to put wins on the board this season, winning just eight of their first 36 games in 2024-25. That puts them in 14th place in the East. On the bright side, despite the loss, Brandon Miller still feels like him and The Hornets are improving as a whole.

“I feel like a player, I’m getting better every day, whether it’s a game or practice,” Miller said. “Just another chance to be better with my teammates and get on the right track.”

Miller has appeared in 26 games so far this season and has improved in his second year, posting career highs. He gets to the spots more easily and gets the shots he wants every night. An average of 21 points, things look easier for Miller around midseason in 2024-25.

After losing to the Phoenix Suns 120-113, Miller sounded optimistic about not only himself, but his team’s progress.

“I know we came out with the right mindset, we went out there and played as hard as we could. We didn’t get the result we wanted, but it’s a long season, so just worry about the next game and try to win with as much energy as we can.

With LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams getting healthy and playing extended minutes, perhaps Charlotte could make a run if they continue to make strides and remain productive. At one point in this matchup with the Suns, the Hornets were up by double digits. They ended up squandering the lead, but Miller, Ball and Williams were three of the Hornets’ four leading scorers.

Miller reveals what went wrong against the Suns

After getting the lead over Phoenix, Miller felt like they could have had that game if they just did one thing the rest of the game.

“I think we stay at the same pace as in the first half and I think we will win this game by a good amount.” We could have had defensive possession that could have been better, but that’s part of the game. It’s a long season, but one day we’ll be on the same page.”

Playing with tempo is probably one of the keys to winning in any sport. Finding ways to generate easy shots when you find a groove helps your team build leads and stack wins. If the Hornets can identify how they want to play on a nightly basis, life would be easier for them.

As Miller mentioned, this is a long season. They still have over 40 games to figure out how they like to play, the spots on the floor they want to attack, and whether they crash or leak on the boards, all matter. On the bright side, with a somewhat healthy team, we will eventually see how this team should perform when at full strength.

The Hornets have two more games to complete their road trip in Utah and Chicago. Maybe they can get back into the win column.
