Brandon Williams has broken his silence following his reported arrest

DALLAS— Dallas Mavericks guard Brandon Williams was arrested over the weekend according to the incident report, as first published by Ron Harrod Jr. from DLLS. According to Harrod, Williams was charged with possession of marijuana at DFV Airport after previously being involved in a family matter. Williams — who is available Wednesday night against the Indiana Pacers — spoke to journalists and issued an apology before the tip-off.
“I want to start by first of all apologizing,” Williams said. “I can’t really go into detail about it. I just want to apologize for being a distraction, especially at a time (when the Mavericks were 0-2) … It wasn’t an ideal time at all. I want to take full responsibility. Like I said, I can’t really go into detail, but I take full responsibility. It’s time to move on.”
Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd he was also asked about the situation when he spoke to journalists before the game.
“I think going to a funeral because of the death of a family member, the incident … It’s something he has to deal with,” Kidd said. “We can only be here to support him.”
The Mavericks are just 1-3 overall to start the season. It was an up and down campaign. The The Mavs offense has been particularly inconsistent.
Dallas could use some extra help at the point guard position. Cooper Flagg started at point guard, while D’Angelo Russell made a significant impact off the bench. Meanwhile, Ryan Nembhardt is capable of helping the situation. However, the Mavericks believe in Williams’ upside and he could play an important role this season.
