Brett Siegel is ‘confident’ the Warriors will make a trade before the deadline

After a promising start, Golden State Warriors are now mired in a mediocre campaign, falling to a 13-14 record entering Thursday’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

There were concerns about the aging Warriors, led by the trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green. Recently, due to various injuries, they struggled to stay together on the field.

Golden State is looking to right the ship, and per Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the front office will be eager to find other players.

“Mike Dunleavi and Joe Lacob want to be very aggressive with their moves, and I’m pretty confident they’ll make some moves before the trade deadline,” Siegel told Clutch Scoops.

“Energy is low, veterans are getting frustrated, something needs to change at this point.”

Obviously, Jonathan Cumminga is a piece the Warriors will want to move and hanging out with other teams. There have been whispers that the Warriors are considering Domantas Sabonis Sacramento Kings and Ivica Zubac Los Angeles Clippers to add imposing big man to their roster.

Siegel, however, said that seemed implausible.

“Sabonise, Zubac, I don’t think either of them are even on their radar at this point,” Siegel noted.

“They definitely need help in the frontcourt, and when they replace Cummings, they’ll need some type of player like Andrew Wiggins on the wing and power forward to help Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green. Athleticism is an issue for this team right now, and it will be their downfall come playoff time if they don’t address it.”

Michael Porter Jr. of the Brooklyn Nets could also be a target for the Warriors, but Siegel said he will be difficult to acquire.
