Brewers executive joins Pat Murphy in back-to-back MLB award wins

When considering a National League Championship Series appearance and an MLB-best 97 regular season wins, then Milwaukee Brewers accomplished during the 2025 campaign, it is important to acknowledge the foundation that David Stearns and Craig Counsell helped lay. Smart movement, strong club chemistry and a balanced philosophical approach helped establish it one of the best cultures in baseball today. But what the team has done in the last two years is truly impressive.

Stearns and Counsell left Milwaukee for more lucrative deals and bigger markets, leaving the Braves stuck in limbo. The previous infrastructure could easily fall apart without the right people at the helm. President of Baseball Operations Matt Arnold and manager Pat Murphy they are not just extensions of their predecessors. Their success stands on its own.

Arnold, who was recently promoted after serving as general manager from 2024-25. won the award for Executive Director of the Yearaccording to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. He joins Murphy in winning the top individual honor in his field for the second straight time, cementing himself as one of the premier front-office leaders in the league.

Arnold showed impressive intuition with the 2025 Brewers

Although Milwaukee benefited greatly from its homegrown talent, which was assembled when Stearns was at the helm, Arnold still displayed decision-making skills before and during the season. He upgraded the starting pitching rotation with the additions of Quinn Priester and Jose Quintana, acquired lowly rookie Caleb Durbin in the Devin Williams trade with the New York Yankees and injected new life into the lineup after replacing Aaron Sivale for Andrew Vaughan in June.

The end result was one of the best years in franchise history. Yes, an offensively anemic performance against the eventual World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers obviously dampens the joyous vibes, but the Brewers once again shattered preseason expectations. Matt Arnold has earned the trust of the city as well as this esteemed recognition.

Milwaukee sincerely hopes he can do what those before him couldn’t: win a championship. Arnold will try to print that very plan moving forward, as he surely wants more than regular season rewards.
