Brian Schottenheimer is not amused by the Trevon Diggs IR conversation

As it is The Dallas Cowboys are preparing to play the Denver Broncosthere are questions about availability of Trevon Diggs this weekend after missing Week 7 with a concussion. Now, Athletic’s John Machotta reports the information he received from coach Brian Schottenheimer on whether the Cowboys cornerback will miss more time.
“Coach Brian “Schottenheimer said it’s premature to talk about Trevon Diggs possibly going on injured reserve,” Machotta said.
Machota discovered it Schottenheimer told him they were keeping all options open and would do what was best for the team. Diggs suffered a concussion at homebefore meeting the NFC East rival Washington Commanders. This was revealed by owner Jerry Jones he spoke to Diggs about the incident and believed the cornerback would miss only one week.
But the Cowboys network found out unlikely to play this week against the Broncos, leaving even more questions about the severity of the concussion. Schottenheimer has not committed to putting Diggs on IR, but that option could be a possibility if he is unable to compete in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football.
With Diggs out, Kaiir Elam started in the win over the Commanders. Elam was solid, making two tackles and one pass deflection, but he also drew a pass interference penalty that hurt the Cowboys’ defense on 4th and 8. While the mystery surrounding Diggs’ injury continues, Elam will likely continue to see playing time and could see a tougher challenge against Denver’s receivers. Cortland Sutton, Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims Jr. will run routes, with Elam likely covering one of them.
No decision has been made on Diggs yet. However, if he cannot recover from a concussion by Week 9, Schottenheimer and the Cowboys could have a tough decision to make as they try to stay competitive and make the playoffs.
