In the midst of a three-game skid and just one game over .500, Cleveland The Cavaliers reportedly remain in trade talksfor now, like ESPN Brian Windhorst relayed. That narrative could change during the regular season and undoubtedly in the offseason, as CluctchPoint’s Brett Siegel reported. For now, though, the Cavaliers will look internally to turn the season around.

From everything he’s heard, Windhorst believes the Cavs are working through it no drastic changes, he said, according to ESPN’s The Hoop Collective.

“My assessment again, and my assessment in talking to people on the team, is that they believe the best approach at this point is to try to get through this, get healthy and find ways to get better and get through it,” Windhorst said. “I don’t think there’s a radical change or roster change coming. Now we’re in mid-December, if you get to mid-to-late January and you’re still in ninth place wherever this podcast goes, it might be a different conversation.”

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst says the Cavaliers hope Max Struss returns in January and Sam Merrill returns from a hand injury as soon as possible because his lack of shooting is why he matters. The two shooters are a big part of Cleveland’s offense.

The Cavs have lost three of their last five games, including a pair of recent losses to the Chicago Bulls, who won both games by 11+ points, following a disappointing 119-111 overtime loss to the Charlotte Hornets.

“One source close to the process, however, fell back on the Stein line on the idea that any upset from Gilbert would have any immediate impact on Atkinson, noting that Gilbert had perhaps the strongest voice in Northeast Ohio supporting Atkinson’s choice to succeed JB Bickerstaff,” Stein added.

The Cavs will host the Hornets on Monday.
