Brody Purdy left bloodied after a brutal sack by the Seahawks

The San Francisco 49ers faced the Seattle Seahawks with the division title and the top seed on the line in the regular season finale. San Francisco entered Saturday’s game on a six-game winning streak, but the the absence of Trent Williams loomed large. The All-Pro left tackle is out for Week 18 with a hamstring injury.

Brock Purdy was consistent under duress Saturday as Seattle’s tough defense recorded three hits and eight quarterback hurries. Trailing by two scores with 2:20 left, the 49ers went into desperation mode.

The apparent return situation allowed Seattle to pull their ears back and rush the passer. Purdy got bloodied on the first play of the drive when he hit with his throwing arm in Byron Murphy’s helmet on the unfinished. Blood was oozing from his thumb after the play, according to Henry McKenna of FOX Sports. Purdy stayed in the game, but the 49ers turned the ball over on downs three plays later.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
