Bruce Brown calls out Kevin Durant for ‘disrespecting’ words

Rivalry between Denver Nuggets and Houston Rockets just got a lot more personal. After a fierce battle on Saturday night in which the Rockets secured a big win, the Nuggets are guarding Bruce Brown didn’t mince words about his interactions with Kevin Durant.

While the game itself was a high-octane affair, the real fireworks happened between the whistles, culminating in a tense exchange that Brown clearly didn’t shake off.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Brown indicated that the chatter went beyond the standard trash talk.

“Some words were said that were a little disrespectful,” Brown said, clearly upset. “Boy, I can’t wait to see them next time.”

When pressed for details on what Durant or the Rockets said, Brown immediately shut him down with a curt, “Next question.” But he didn’t stop there. In a moment of raw honesty, Brown lamented the modern NBA’s limitations on physical confrontations.

“I wish there was a fight (in the NBA). I wish we weren’t punished,” Brown admitted. When asked if he would really “drop the gloves” with the former MVP if given the chance, Brown didn’t hesitate: “I would think about it.”

The animosity seemed to peak in the second half. Durant, who was in the bag all nightappeared to be having fun at Denver’s expense, engaging in what some media outlets described as “trolling” as the Rockets pulled away. The broadcast captured KD and Brown in a heated exchange, which required officials and teammates to be separated.

For the Nuggets, the loss is a frustrating setback, but postgame commentary suggests a rematch is already on the calendar. Brown, known for his tough defense and no-nonsense attitude, is rarely publicly upset by this. If Saturday was any indication, the next meeting between these two Western Conference heavyweights will be must-see TV.

The Rockets may have taken this round, but they’ve clearly awakened a different beast in Brown and the Nuggets.
