Brusdar Graterol’s latest update will worry LA fans

As it is The Los Angeles Dodgers are gearing up for the 2026 seasonthey hope Brusdar Graterol could be a key part of the bench. But the latest update from manager Dave Roberts has cast a dark cloud over those plans.

Roberts confirmed it Graterol did not grow after shoulder surgeryvia Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. Although he wouldn’t call it a complete regression, Graterol’s status not in the best light as the regular season approaches.

The right-hander pitched just 7.1 innings in 2024 while battling shoulder and hamstring injuries. Then Graterol was sidelined for the entire 2025 season after undergoing labrum surgery. Now the relief pitcher finds himself on questionable footing as he tries to get back on the mound.

When healthy, Graterol has been a key resource out of Los Angeles’ bullpen. Over five seasons, totaling 178 games, the righty has a 2.69 ERA and a 138/40 K/BB ratio. In his final full season, in 2023, Graterol appeared in a career-high 68 games and posted career bests in ERA (1.20) and strikeouts (48) while walking 12.

While the Dodgers certainly want that type of talent in their bullpen, they will have to rely on what they have until Graterol returns. Los Angeles put a lot of options in their bullpen, including new free agent closer Edwin Diaz.

But as for Graterol’s place in the relief mix, Roberts and company will just have to be patient. The franchise will continue to be cautious and monitor the right-hander closely. But without much progress after surgery, it’s hard to say how long Graterol will be out.
