Buffalo immediately demoted McCall Hardman after a fumbled punt against the Buccaneers

on Sunday, The Buffalo Bills took the field at home for the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a matchup between two legitimate Super Bowl contenders from each conference. This game was a back-and-forth rebound affair, with the Bills leading 21-20 at halftime.
At one point in the game, Bills wide receiver and special teams player Mecole Hardmanformer multiple Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, muffed the punt, and the Bills were quick to make sure he was in no position to repeat that mistake.
“Bills removed new VR Mecole Hardman from return unit after his botched punt,” reported Joe Buscaglia of the Athletics on X, formerly Twitter.
Typically throughout his career, Hardman has been known for popping up in the biggest moments, including the game-winning catch for the Chiefs in the 2024 Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers. However, he did not have his greatest moment against Tampa Bay.
Overall, the Bills came into this game hoping to bounce back from last week’s ugly loss to the Miami Dolphins. That game reignited concerns about the Bills’ defensive inconsistency and lack of offensive flair, both of which were put on the backburner after the team’s recent home win over the Chiefs.
However, the game against Tampa Bay gave the Bills a chance to prove that the game against Miami was a one-off.
Next up for the Bills is a Thursday Night Football game against the Houston Texans.
