Bulls end losing streak by knocking off Charlotte
On the verge of implosion after seven consecutive defeats, c Bulls a much needed win Charlotteagainst the opponent – a priori – at arm’s length. This was not easy, especially because Knuppel could (33 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds) i Miles Bridges (32 points, 7 assists) struggled for a long time, but teammates from Josh Giddei (26 points, 11 assists, 7 rebounds) eventually pulled themselves together and grabbed this long-awaited success: 129-126.
In addition to Josh Giddy, six other players Chicago finished in “double figure”. Among which Zach Collins (16 points, 8 rebounds), decisive coming off the bench, because it was he who somehow revived his team in the third quarter, when it was still behind by 13 points.
THE Hornets took control of the game comfortably, thanks to their Knueppel/Bridges duo, unstoppable in the first half, and went straight to victory. This was without counting the collective from Illinois, led by the fiery tandem of Giddy/Collins, who allowed themselves to catch fire in the last fifteen minutes, with a lot of penetration.
Kobe White, the author of the free throws for the victory, was not left out on the Bulls side, we note that rookie Kon Knuepel could get three free throws to tie the game on the previous possession. Except that the “challenge” sought by Billy Donovan proved to be the winning one, leaving the Charlotte players helpless, they were defeated for the fourth time in five games.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– Chicago is back to winning ways. Quickly back in order after a great start to the season, the Bulls came pretty far back last night. Initially unable to take care of skin, limit second chances and defend their 3-point line, they gradually regained momentum. The change came in the third quarter, with the score 88-75 for the Hornets. From there, a 14-2 run came out of nowhere to cut the deficit back to one possession. Zach Collins, Jaylen Smith, Kobe White and Josh Giddy: baskets flood in, turnovers and fouls disappear, and then the “momentum” changes sides. Leading to saving success.
– An X factor named Zach Collins. We could name Josh Giddy, on the verge of a “triple-double” and who did not stop going around, Kobe White, who loves to perform in his native North Carolina, Patrick Williams, born in Charlotte, or Isaac Okoro, unsustainable in the last act with his constant cuts to the basket. Finally, we’ll remember Zach Collins, just back from injury, but who woke up the Bulls from the third quarter. Between his 3-point or mid-range baskets, his blocking, his offensive rebounding and good turnovers, the pivot thrived against the Hornets’ interior. His +/-? +17!
– Josh Green played again. It was expectedbut Josh Green has finally made it back into contention with the Hornets. He hasn’t stepped on the field since early April, when he was nursing his left shoulder after undergoing surgery during the offseason. Nonsense for the Australian, who was used for 17 minutes by Charles Lee (2 points, 1 pass and 1 interception), while we still find LaMelo Ball (ankle), Tre Mann (knee), Collin Sexton (quadriceps), Grant Williams (knee) and Pat Conton (calf) in the hospital in Charlotte.
