Cade Cunningham leaves the Wizards game with an injury after a hard fall
The Detroit Pistons have enjoyed such a strong start to the 2025-26 season, with Cade Cunningham makes it 8-2 in a new campaign. Alas, fortunately, the Pistons simply cannot enjoy this incredible start to the season without facing adversity.
Cunningham had to leave Monday night’s game against the Washington Wizards early after taking a hard fall that landed him on his tailbone, ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel reported. He had to be helped off the fieldcausing major concern for the East-leading Pistons.
With 4:27 left in the fourth and the Pistons down by eight, 114-106, Cunningham found himself in half-transition with a chance to take the lead. Wizards forward Cam Whitmore crashed into the paint and tried to block Cunningham’s shot, only to have it blocked in the air. This caused a heavy fall for the Pistons star.

The Pistons will be hoping this injury is nothing serious, especially when they’ve already dealt with a slew of injuries. But the good news is that Cunningham is already back on the court to finish the game against the Wizards.
Cunningham even hit Dennis Jenkins for the tying shot to send the game into overtime at 127-all. With the Pistons already shorthanded as they are, Cunningham’s struggles are further proof that he’s a superstar who will take Detroit far — maybe even to the promised land.
The Pistons are looking to extend their lead in the East despite their injury woes

This Pistons team is about to get better once they get their team healthy. They were already missing Tobias Harris with an ankle injury, and Isaiah Stewart joined him on the mend. Jaden Ivey and Marcus Sasser are out the whole season. And then Ausar Thompson joined them on the mend for Monday night’s back-to-back contest against the Wizards.
Regardless, they fight and even claw their way back against Washington. This team leads the East standings for a reason, and their resilience and mental strength will take this team’s place.
