Cam Johnson limps out of Mavericks game to add to injury woes

The Denver Nuggets (21-7) were focused on strengthening his bench during the offseason, but they didn’t expect to rely on it so much at the start of the campaign. Coach David Adelman just watched another starter get hurt. Cam Johnson limped off the floor after suffering a sprained knee during Tuesday’s road game against the Dallas Mavericks (11-19). He was listed as doubtful for returnaccording to Vinnie Benedetto of the Denver Gazette, but did not return to the contest.
The Nuggets came up short in his absence, falling 131-130 to star Cooper Flagg and the Mavs. If Johnson hadn’t come out of the game, there was a chance he would have attempted a 3-pointer as time expired. Peyton Watson got a good look though and nearly led the visiting team to a thrilling victory at the American Airlines Center. Johnson finished with eight points on 3-of-7 shooting with two 3-pointers in 24 minutes of action.
Aaron Gordon and Christian Brown are both already out, and neither will play in December. As great as the Nuggets are, a team can only take so many injuries to key players before it starts to falter.
