Cam Skattebo posts heartfelt message after horrific injury

The New York Giants lost a key offensive player in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles, as Cam Skatebo suffered a gruesome ankle injury during the game. Skatebo underwent surgery at a local hospital in Philadelphia, the team said.

The day after the operation, Skattebo wrote a heartfelt message for the support he received in the past 24 hours.

“Thank you all for your support!! The surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me. Every moment I spent in the hospital with my family and friends, I felt loved and supported in every way. Tthank you to the doctors, surgeons and staff who did everything they could on me. This is just the beginning of my journey, and I can’t wait to show you all about it!!! GOD has a plan for me, he’s staying the course and everything will work itself out, BRB #LFG,” Skattebo wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Skatebo has become a fan favorite in New York not only because of his play but because of the energy he brings to the team every game. Novak saw an increase in playing time early in the season after Tyrone Tracy Jr. suffered an injury. Since then, Skatebo has made a big impact on the field, as he has had 410 yards and five touchdowns.

Coach Brian Daboll did not mention the severity of Skateb’s injury or a timeline for his recovery when asked. With a sprained ankle, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Skatebo misses the rest of the season as he has to recover, meaning Tracy and Devin Singletary will have to step up in his absence.

The Giants could also consider signing another running back for depth.
