Cam Thomas in the Jamal Crawford category, Lou Williams by Doc Rivers


As Cam Thomas signed with the Milwaukee Bucks after being waived by the brooklyn nets, he sought a key role for his new team, as his talents were on full display in a 116-108 win over the orlando magic on wednesday night. With Thomas wants to elevate the Bucks with Giannis Antetokounmpohead coach Doc Rivers drew some comparisons to the rookie that should get all fans excited.

In the win over the Magic, Thomas scored a game-high 34 points on 12-of-20 shooting from the field, 4-of-6 from the field, along with four rebounds and two assists. Showing off his microwave ability to heat up off the court as the game wore on, Rivers would compare Thomas players he coached in the pastlike Jamal Crawford and Lou Williamswhile sharing differences and similarities.

“I had Jamal Crawford. I had Lou Williams,” Rivers said, via Michael. Scotto. “And now, I have Cam Thomas.”

“They’re similar, but they’re all different in their own way,” Rivers continued. “Cam wants to play well. He wants to play well. It shows. And we’re going to give him every opportunity. I mean, the guy’s a natural scorer, and it shows. He probably forced one or two today when he went overboard. You live with it and you learn to take it out of him. But overall, he’s been fantastic.”

Doc Thomas is looking to make an impact after signing with the Bucksthere’s no denying that Rivers sees the possibilities of what the guard can accomplish. With those comparisons to talented shooters, Thomas talked about hearing praise from Rivers.

“It means a lot, (Rivers) having that trust (in me) early,” Thomas said, via the Athletics. “I would say everybody knows I can score. … I mean, that’s the name of the game — getting baskets, scoring goals — but I’m more than just a shooter. I feel like making plays, drawing the defense on me, making the right play, I feel like that’s an underrated part of my game just because I score so well.”

Either way, Thomas is looking to help Milwaukee further as their next game is Thursday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
