Cam Whitmore is out indefinitely with a blood clot in his shoulder
The The Washington Wizards did not right lately, he is currently 5-22 heading into Tuesday night’s game against the Charlotte Hornets. Sagittarius Cam Whitmore was in and out of the lineup so far this year due to injury, having last played on Dec. 4 in a loss to the Boston Celtics.
Recently, Whitmore received a terrible injury update.
“Washington Wizards forward Cam Whitmore is out indefinitely after being diagnosed with upper extremity deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder, sources tell ESPN,” ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported on X, formerly Twitter.
Charania then provided more context about the disease.
“Whitmore has missed the last few games with shoulder soreness and further testing revealed a blood clot. He joined the Wizards via a trade on an increased opportunity and has begun working closely with coach Brian Keefe in recent weeks as part of his development plan,” he reported.
Whitmore is the latest in a growing number of NBA players to suffer blood clots in recent seasons, including Victor Wembanyama, who missed the final few months of the 2024-25 season with the same problem.
Whitmore was brought to the Wizards last offseason after spending the first part of his career with the Houston Rockets, as they didn’t have much of a chance to flourish there as they looked to pivot around Kevin Durant this offseason.
In any case, it remains to be seen how much time Whitmore will miss with the blood clot issue. The Wizards and Hornets are scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM ET.
