Can the Heat move Terry Rozier?
Arrested by the FBI in October, then fired from the Heat, with a pay freeze, Terry Rozier has since then pleaded not guilty allegations of fraud and money laundering linked to a vast network of illegal bookmakers. He is now awaiting trial, scheduled for September 2026 at best.
Meanwhile, he is still considered a Miami player, with a $26.6 million contract, free at the end of this season. So can he be traded like any other player? Adam Silver replied that the league “Try to find a solution” on this matter.
“This is an unprecedented situation”, continues the NBA boss at his big NBA Cup press conference. “I sympathize with Heat and their fans, but we are trying to find a solution, we will work this out with them. There is no obvious solution here. There is no doubt that they have a player who cannot play at the moment.”
Hence the idea of transmission. Even if it seems difficult, if not impossible, since he will not play in his new colors either, and his movements are limited, without prior approval.
