Cardinals’ Nolan Arenado gets attention with 4-word post amid trade rumors

It is already late January and St. Louis Cardinals worrisome to remain in limbo. Fans still don’t know if the team is ready to embark on a full rebuild or intends to enter 2025 with an expensive veteran core intact. Right-handed ace Sonny Gray acts like a man who stays where he is, preparing for a favorable season. on the other hand, Nolan Arenado is still at the center of trade rumors and likely expects to play elsewhere next year.

However, he is not sitting around waiting to land a new club. The eight-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove third baseman is focused on rediscovering his fashion sense before the start of spring training. And just like Austin Powers, Arenado goes back in time to try to get it. Well, sort of.

The 33-year-old is going back to basics and improving your skills at the University of Texas at Austin. He did not attend college, initially committing to Arizona State before signing with the Colorado Rockies organization. But Arenado spent time down south playing for the Tulsa Drillers of the Texas League in 2012. The five-time Silver Slugger’s association with the Longhorns is irrelevant.

The only thing that matters is his intense commitment to re-establish himself as a top talent. “Back 2 roots,” Arenado posted on Instagram.

He’s taking batting practice and fielding balls while the Cardinals mull over options. The front office has articulated its own desire to trade Arenadobut the process is taking place more slowly than expected. His continued presence is delaying St. Louis’ other potential winter plans, which in turn raises the stress level of the Redbird faithful. It is vital that both parties reach a solution.

If Nolan Arenado does stay with the Cardinals next season ($21 million salary), hopefully he can return to his past form. The California native batted a respectable .272, but saw his power numbers plummet. He hit just 16 home runs and slugged a paltry .394 percentage in 152 games. Perhaps a slight adjustment to his momentum may yield more favorable results in 2025.
