Carmelo Anthony explains how Chris Paul should deal with ‘ego hit’

If anyone can relate to Chris Paul‘s situation with the Clippers, it’s Carmelo Anthony. Anthony, who was recently inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame, had a decorated career that was marred by several contentious trade scenarios as well as a long period of not being signed by a team before eventually joining the Lakers.
Anthony weighed in Chris Paul’s problem with the Clippers in the latest episode of 7 pm in Brooklynfollowing his retirement announcement a few weeks ago. Paul was unceremoniously sent home by the Clippers before their road game against the Atlanta Hawks. In his commentshe stressed that it would be an “ego hit” for a player of Paul’s caliber, while also detailing how he could manage.
“It’s going to be a blow to the ego because you’re not going to want to go out like that because it’s embarrassing,” Anthony said. “But what’s going to keep you going is your kids. The fact that you take your daughters to school, you can take your son to school. You’re going to start realizing that the stress is less, and less, and less. I’m not going to wake up the next day and think about not having a shot. I don’t have to think about the competition, because nobody needs to think about what I have to survive in basketball right now. son and I’m speaking from experience.
Anthony added, “We can’t play this forever. And when we get past our pride and ego, we’ll realize, hey, it’s just a job.”
The former All-NBA point guard announced via his Instagram Story at 3 a.m. Wednesday that he was being sent home, and the organization confirmed they will work with Paul to figure out what’s best for his future.
