Cavs linked to potential Cam Johnson trade
As Brooklyn Nets star Cam Johnson has been mentioned in trade rumorsthe only team he could be linked with is the #1 team in the Eastern Conference Cleveland Cavaliers. While it is The Golden State Warriors were originally linked to Johnsonthe latest report from ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel suggests the Cavs could be a possible trade option for the forward.
Allegedly, there were thoughts about Cleveland goes after Johnson to bolster its roster hoping for a championship by the end of the season. However, there should be some moves in who they trade, which would include Caris LeVert and even their 2024 first-round pick Jaylon Tyson.
“Some in the league wondered if it was.” Cleveland Cavaliers would seriously consider dealing Johnson to make a run for a championship this season,” Siegel wrote. “The move would likely leave the Cavs having to trade Carys LeVert, a key secondary talent like Georges Niang, and likely 2024 first-round pick Jaylon Tyson, since they don’t have practical no first round draft pick to give up.”
“The idea of Cleveland using LeVert was met with hesitation around the league,” Siegel continued. “However, it is believed that the Cavs will make some sort of move to bolster their overall depth.” Like Johnson, Jeremy Grant is still a name linked to Cleveland should the organization move to the fence before the deadline.

So far this season, Johnson is averaging 19.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and three assists per game while shooting 49.9 percent from the field and 42.8 percent from the bench.
“Johnson has a huge trade market, sources said, and several playoff contending teams continue to monitor his status,” Siegel wrote. “The Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies continue to be the teams most discussed about Johnson when talking to league personnel.” With that being said, many wonder if the Nets would hesitate to negotiate with Memphis due to the Grizzlies’ attempts to undercut them during the Finney-Smith talks.
The Nets have already traded Dorian Finney-Smith to the Los Angeles Lakers as a deal for Johnson would signal the team’s rebuilding phase. As for the Cavs, they are in the thick of it in their quest for their first title since 2016.
